Waves from a strong rain storm are pummelling Gijón´s San Lorenzo beach for the second time in a month as I write this letter.
This past rainy February
marked 14 years we have been in full-time church planting missionary work in Northern Spain .
January 2014 |
14 years ago when we first arrived in Mataró, Barcelona. |
We are thankful that through Iglesia Bautista Libertad (Liberty Baptist Church ) of Gijón, the seed of God´s Word has been planted in the hearts of many people in this city.
For this reason our upcoming furlough is of utmost importance. It is our hearts´ burden to urge the
continued prayer and support for souls in the city of Gijón .
Our church and Be Strong Evangelism Ministries is getting the Gospel to
many people and we want to be here when the Gospel seeds begin to bring life
and need growth.
We will arrive in New York May 26th
and we have meetings already scheduled for the month of June. Then we will spend the rest of the year
reporting to supporting churches and raising new support in Florida .
In 2015, we will make trips to the Southwest and California to report to supporting
churches. We have spent the month of
February producing a video and preparing other material to show on
furlough. For this ministry to continue
we need to get back up to 100% monthly support, recruit team workers, and raise
sufficient special project funds.
Though lack of commitment
and consistent church attendance can be a let down, our weekly and daily
ministry here in Gijón is plentiful, being there for people when they need
someone to talk to and need advice. This
allows us to point people to Christ and the hope that He gives. Danielle´s English student and workout buddy, has been saddened by her father´s sudden physical condition. Danielle spends time reading
Scripture and praying with her.
Joseph has begun a new Bible study with a Spanish man. Another Spanish neighbor who often reads the
verses on our wall from outside the storefront, came in inquiring about our
faith and expressing how pleased she is she found a place where she can learn
more about God. Pray for the salvation
of these people.
We praise the Lord that two
Bolivian ladies who used to attend our services years ago have been back with
us on Sundays during the month of February.
They told us today they want to get their lives right with the
Lord. Pray that others will make this
decision.
Thank you to all
of you who have been so faithful in praying for us and supporting us
financially. You are the reason many in Gijón , Spain
are hearing the Gospel!
